John and Pina

John and Pina live in San Luis Potosi, Mexico and are busy obeying the Lord´s command to go into all the world and to preach the Gospel. God brought them together during the summer of 2008 and they decided to marry the following year. John´s former wife had passed away in June 2006 after a 10 month battle with cancer. Sensing God's call, John came to Mexico in pursuit of a lifetime dream of living in Mexico. While he was traveling through the country on his motorcycle, Pina, as a single mother, was busy pursuing her 21 year career and passion to become the #1 artificial and natural floral designer in San Luis Potosi. Pina had been very successful with her business, but couldn´t ignore the growing hunger in her heart to dedicate her life 100% to God´s call.

When John and Pina met they both quickly sensed a confirmation that God had plans for them to marry and to serve Him. Pina told John that after their marriage she would like to divest herself of the flower/gift shop and serve God. With their hearts in agreement, they began making plans to marry in February 2009. They are now both actively serving their Lord in a variety of individual one on one ministries and ministry to other couples. They attend a local church, Agua Viva, where on occasion they are asked to give presentations to married couples or individual talks to men or women groups.

Pina – WOW

My heart’s desire is to preach the gospel to the poor, proclaim release to the captives and to set free those that are oppressed by the enemy. Based on Jesus´s proclamation in Luke 4.

Vision: Promote and teach the Word of God, that the women might know who is God and mature in wisdom and their relationship and walk with God.

Mission: Conviction to put into practice the principles of God in our lives with the goal of becoming women with eternal purpose to the end that our lives would become a faithful testimony in our homes, society and country to the fact that we are daughters of the Most High.

Method: The above is to be accomplished by study of the Bible and other books based 100% on the Bible. Our ministry includes making disciples, counseling of individuals and couples including sessions of inner healing.

John – Varones and weekly cell group

John´s heart is to encourage others in their new faith and to make disciples of Christ through involvement with the local church and the body of Christ. (John 21:15-17)

He leads a weekly cell group in their home plus a weekly men´s Bible study. He also works with a rehabilitation center for men with drug and alcohol addictions.

Eva's Story

I never imagined what God had prepared for me and my family.

Thank you God for this moment. I am amazed. It has been almost 4 years from the day I set foot in WOW for the first time. I never imagined what God had prepared for me and my family. Through all this time God has allow us to know him, love him, and share him, but the most important thing is that now we have an intimate relationship with him.

When I first came to WOW I was welcomed at the door, I was embraced and kissed! I was so nervous and afraid. I didn’t know what it would happen to me and what to do with all the things I was carrying on my back and I don’t mean a food pot or bread, I mean all my insecurities , fears, guilt, and worries etc. etc… God has transformed my life during all this time. “Im not the same person” from four years ago. Now I am the daughter of the living God that loves me and has taught me to share of His love with others.

Thank you God, thank you Carmen that took the time to invite me for the first time to WOW. Thank you Pina, Raquel, Rafita and Mary, I love each one of you! Eva

Vero's Story

When my daughter was 17 years old she met a man who was in bad company including gang fights and using drugs. My daughter fell in love with him and they decided to live together. I knew as a mother this was not the person for my daughter. I was desperate and I asked “the Virgin” to return my daughter to me. In December I prayed the rosary to the Virgin and asked her to return my daughter. Nothing happened and my daughter continued more rebellious towards me.

During this time my cousin invited me to attend John and Pina’s church called Agua Viva. I was unsure, but was so desperate for my daughter. While at the church, I really felt the presencse of God and asked Him to return my daughter. This was my heart’s desire.

A month later I found out my daughter was in a gang fight with drug dealers and was severely injured by two bullets the size of a finger. While she was in surgery everyone in our small group at Aqua Viva was praying for her. She was on teetering on the edge of death. When I finally heard from the surgeon he said, “Señora, I don´t know what Saint you prayed to, but your daughter is doing well. The bullet did not permanently damage anything. Few people survive from this size of bullet.”

After she recovered, my daughter came to my house and told me, “Mom, I am coming back to you. I can see that I am not okay and God has given me another chance to live.” So I have my daughter with me now. I know God is going to help her to go forward.

Teri

Vero's Story

Teri was invited to WOW by her daughter on her birthday. (We celebrate each month all the birthdays.) As I (Pina) greeted Tere at the entrance that morning, the first thing she said was, “I am Catholic, and the only reason I am here is to know what my daughter is getting into!” I said, good and we are so happy to have you here! That was 2 years ago, now Tere declares herself to be a Christian that loves the Lord and enjoys telling others about the Savior. Her comment is, I can’t believe how blind I was all my life. Now I know Jesus and am complete and happy. Tere is a very faithful person and is currently serving in the welcome ministry of WOW. She is a “Jewel” and a joy to be around!

Vero

Vero's Story

I am grateful to Pina and the WOW team that were in prayer for me during a very scary bout of appendicitis. I am thankful for every one of my sisters that were aware and praying for my recuperation. It is like the Agua Viva church is my family in Christ. They are always there with me in those difficult moments and times.

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds... encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Hebrews 10:24-25

Lupita

Lupita is a young girl with epilepsy that is married to a young man with a similar condition. Both are living with Lupita’s mother in law, Vicenta, who loves her dearly. One day the mother-in-law brought Lupita to WOW, hoping to help her socialize as she was an extremely shy and insecure person. She was completely withdrawn to the extent that it was very difficult for her to look directly into another person’s eyes. God began doing a beautiful work in Lupita’s life and heart to the extent that now when she comes to WOW she looks for me (Pina) to say hi and give me a hug. The other day Lupita came to me and asked, Pina, would you allow me to give my testimony in front of WOW on what the Lord has done in my life? I was stunned! She is like a new person. Truly, God is amazing!

Leonor

I grew up all my life hearing about how everything that I did was wrong and knowing a God that only punishes. I married a divorced man and was told that all the bad consequences in my life were due that wrong decision. I felt so bad for all the terrible things that had happened in my life. I felt I couldn’t turn to God because I deserved all that was happening to me. I was invited to attend WOW. I found his forgiveness and mercy and gave myself to him. Our book study has helped me to understand the lies I had believed all my life. I now know I am forgiven and can now love and worship God. I am free! Amen.

Vianey

WOW has been a safe and loving place where they have taught me how to have a relationship with God and grow in my knowledge of the Word. Rafita (One of the WOW Council Leaders) said after I first arrived, “This one is a complete mess!” Today I can say that the Lord brought me here so that I could establish an eternal relationship with Him. Now I am occupied with seeking to live in agreement with His will and to die to my own selfish ways. The Lord is faithful and has been patient with me, blessing my life and my family since I acknowledged His name.

Berta's Story

I realized that Jesus didn’t deserve all that happened to him and my sin was a part of his suffering.

After many years of marriage my husband confessed to me that he had an additional family with children by another woman. I was very hurt and cried out, “This isn’t fair! I have always tried to be a good person and wife.”

My husband and I went to visit Pina and John where we found out about Jesus. From studying this book at WOW, I realized that Jesus didn’t deserve all that happened to him and my sin was a part of his suffering. I felt ashamed.

It took me time to forgive my husband, but with God´s help over and over time our marriage has been restored. Berta’s husband has also become a Christian and has been attending a men’s Bible study for over 2 years.
